Dr. Edward M. L. Peters is an award-winning executive and technology entrepreneur. He recently served as Chief Innovation Officer at Panzura, LLC, San Jose, CA, where he led the redeployment of Panzura’s technology from China-based to the U.S. and Mexico. He also led groundbreaking work in the Pace of Innovation and was awarded two U.S. Patents for his work. Prior to that, he was CEO of Data Discovery Sciences, a consulting, and services company based in Dallas, TX, that specializes in discovering and analyzing data to drive cyber-threat identification and AI-based intelligent automation efforts.

He has also led several companies including Data Direct Technologies (acquired by Progress Software), which became the worldwide market leader in standards-based data connectivity, and OpenConnect Systems (acquired by ActiveOps), which became an early leader in automated business process discovery and robotic process automation. He is an inventor of Automated Business Process Discovery (U.S. Patent 8533743) and has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Maryland Tech Council Entrepreneur of the Year in 2004 and Ernst and Young, Entrepreneur of the Year, Regional Finalist in 2003 and 2004 (Baltimore – Washington Region) and 2008, (Dallas Region).

He has been a guest on nationally syndicated radio and television programs discussing issues of cyber threats, data privacy, and artificial intelligence.

He holds a Ph.D. in applied economics (process mining/data science) from the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, an M.S. in Industrial Engineering, and a B.A. in Government, both from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA. He has also graduated from programs at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and MIT’s Sloan School of Management. He has been a guest on nationally syndicated radio and television programs discussing issues of cyber threats, data privacy, and artificial intelligence. His writings have been published in scientific peer-reviewed journals as well as the popular press (Forbes, The Financial Times, The Hill).

In his personal time, he is a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu practitioner and competitor, holding a Black Belt awarded by Master Carlos Machado. He is also an FAA instrument-rated pilot.
